You can access free health advice at any time of the day or night from Healthline nurses, paramedics, advisors, and doctors (who can help with prescriptions), by calling Healthline on 0800 611 116 for free.

 

If you’ve got questions about your medication, you’re away from home, you’re not sure about something, you can’t access a GP, or you don’t currently have a GP – they can help, including arranging a free telehealth GP consultation (extended past 31 March).

 

  • You can choose to speak with a Māori clinician (if you’re calling 8am-8pm). The Healthline team are all committed to culturally safe practice and are available 24x7.  
  • Interpretation services are available as are NZ Relay Services to help if you are deaf, hearing impaired, Deafblind or speech impaired. Note the NZ Relay Services are only available for limited hours.
  • Phone calls to Healthline are free – including from a mobile phone.

If you normally live in Te Matau a Māui – Hawke’s Bay and cannot live in your usual home or residence:

  • You can see a doctor or nurse for free at a general practice, after-hours, accident and medical and urgent care clinic until 10 April 2023.
  • You can call Healthline to arrange a free telehealth GP consultation and support with prescriptions.
  • When you get your medicines from a pharmacy, there will be no prescription charge (also known as the $5 co-payment) until 10 April 2023
  • If you can't get a new prescription, or have lost your medicines, pharmacists are able to supply most medicines for up to 14 days free without a prescription until 21 March 2023
  • These supports also apply to you even if you are staying with friends and family outside of the area where you normally live.

If you normally live in Te Tai Tokerau – Northland and cannot live in your usual home or residence:

  • You can see a doctor or nurse for free at a general practice, after-hours, accident and medical and urgent care clinic anywhere in the country until 10 April 2023.
  • You can call Healthline to arrange a free telehealth GP consultation and support with prescriptions.
  • When you get your medicines from a pharmacy, there will be no prescription charge (also known as the $5 co-payment) until 10 April.
  • These supports also apply to you even if you are staying with friends and family outside of the area where you normally live.

If you normally live in Tairāwhiti – Gisborne and cannot live in your usual home or residence:

  • You can call 0800 TAKATU to speak to a local, trained health professional for general health advice and guidance. Available Monday to Friday 9am-4pm.
  • You can see a doctor or nurse for free at a general practice, after-hours, accident and medical and urgent care clinic anywhere in the country until 10 April 2023.
  • You can call Healthline to arrange a free telehealth GP consultation and support with prescriptions.
  • When you get your medicines from a pharmacy, there will be no prescription charge (also known as the $5 co-payment) until 10 April 2023.

  • These supports also apply to you even if you are staying with friends and family outside of the area where you normally live.

If you normally live in Coromandel and cannot live in your usual home or residence:

  • You can see a doctor or nurse for free at a general practice, after-hours, accident and medical and urgent care clinic anywhere in the country until 10 April 2023.
  • You can call Healthline to arrange a free telehealth GP consultation and support with prescriptions.
  • When you get your medicines from a pharmacy, there will be no prescription charge (also known as the $5 co-payment) until 10 April 2023.
