The Health Workforce Information Programme (HWIP) has been capturing and reporting Te Whatu Ora District (formerly DHB) employed workforce demographic data since 2006. The data collected consists of 29 variables, supported by an agreed data standard and code sets. Every quarter, analysts in the 20 Districts submit workforce data for inclusion in the HWIP. Comprehensive data completeness and quality checks are run before the information is loaded into the HWIP database.

Information from the HWIP is used to support Te Whatu Ora employment negotiations processes, and has formed the baseline data gathering for operational information on specific workforces.
