The New Zealand FHIR Registry is home to the HL7® FHIR® profiles and implementation guides that are most important to interoperability in our digital health ecosystem.
FHIR is the international standard for communicating structured personal health information via application programming interfaces (APIs). FHIR profiles and implementation guides are developed to meet our ecosystem requirements.
Software developers can freely share and reuse the FHIR profiles and implementation guides published in the registry.
Artefacts that conform to our other standards and successfully complete a public comment or ballot process qualify for Health Information Standards Organisation (HISO) endorsement.
The registry supports the development of APIs for national digital services such as the National Health Index (NHI), Health Provider Index (HPI) and National Immunisation Solution (NIS), as well as Hira, the national health information platform.
Also published in the registry is the FHIR NZ Base implementation guide developed by HL7 New Zealand. Te Aho o Te Kahu | Cancer Control Agency is another registry user.
The registry is hosted on the Simplifier.net platform provided by Netherlands company Firely. The registry is co-governed by the Ministry of Health and HL7 New Zealand.
